talk… Even though MUG isn't exactly in the gonzo school of anything, we can't help but be a little bit fascinated by Hunter S. Thompson. Tonight, at Barnes and Noble Union Square, 7pm, you can hear William Kennedy, Jann Wenner, Corey Seymour, and Porter Bibb—who knew him personally and professionally—talk about the iconoclast. The event is in connection with the new book GONZO: The Life of Hunter S. Thompson, An Oral Biography.

music… This Sunday at Crash Mansion, 199 Bowery [Spring] 866.468.7619, multi-talented Manoel Felciano celebrates the release of his first solo album "Moonshot." He'll be performing tunes from it, which means some original material and some covers. Check out his MySpace page here and tickets, $20, are here (you'll get a free copy of the CD). Doors, 7:30pm. Show, 8:15pm.

art… If you're familiar with Seurat largely through A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, you're in for a revelation at the MoMA show, through January 7th, Georges Seurat: The Drawings. The artist, who died at age 31, nevertheless produced 500 drawings, once called "the most beautiful painter's drawings in existence."

shopping… This Tuesday, December 11th, 11am-2pm, the Big Apple Bead Artists will hold a sale of their unique, handmade beaded jewelry. There will be only a small group of vendors but expect some nice stuff, especially necklaces and small bracelets from CHM Designs, $30-$150. 20 W. 44th [5th/6th] Room 508. Cash and personal checks only.

shopping event… At Bloomies Soho, shop for fashion accessories on Tuesday, December 11th, and 10% of net sales will go to benefit Children for Children. Plus: designers and reps on hand for special trunk shows, and plenty of beauty and fashion advice.

books… Somewhere between Tales of—and Sex and—the City, lies the comic concoction Fruit Cocktail, the sequel to On Picking Fruit about gay-man-of-a-certain-age Curtis Jenkins and his quest for love. Author Arthur Wooten will be at Barnes and Noble Chelsea, 7pm, tonight.
