Lesley Gore died on Monday of cancer at age 68. She'll be remembered for her youthful hits but we'd point to her album Ever Since from 2005 as the best example of her artistry. From Blake Morgan's It's Gone and Better Angels to several songs she co-wrote to a remake of You Don't Own Me, it's an unabashedly rueful album. But rarely has hard-earned wisdom made such lovely pop music.
