indie rock… Saturday: It's the 2007 Siren Festival. See a bunch of bands at Coney Island while you still can. Sunday: Band of Horses have it. talk… To be honest, we didn't even know that there was a Salt Marsh Nature Center — but we're glad to learn about it. At said Center, Betsy McCully, author of City at the Water's Edge: a Natural History of New York will give a talk on her book this Saturday, 1pm.

movies… The Rural Route Film Festival showcases films that deal with rural people and places. It takes place at Anthology Film Archives tomorrow through Sunday.

out of town… Up at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, NY, Offenbach's "Orpheus in the Underworld" plays through August 26th.

food… There are a few things we crave in July: steamers, corn, and BBQ. For that last one, we're looking forward to visiting Georgia's Eastside BBQ, opening today, 192 Orchard [Houston/Stanton] 212.253.6280. Here's a Flickr photoset of the place.
