virtual book signing…Margaret Atwood will sign copies of her new book The Tent this Sunday, 12:30-1:30pm, at McNally Robinson Booksellers, 50 Prince [Lafayette/Mulberry] 212.274.1160. You can talk with her, and she'll sign your book with a pen. But Ms. Atwood will be in London, which makes this the first-ever transatlantic book signing. It's done with a gizmo called the LongPen (pictured); Ms. Atwood herself initiated its development.

indie rock… Oh My Rockness picks: Go see Satanicide, Demander and Goes Cube on Saturday and headbang with the hipsters. Norwegian rockers Serena Maneesh play Bowery Ballroom on Monday. Just announced: 4/25 & 4/26 Electric Six and 5/2 Yeah Yeah Yeahs

movie… Nominated for best foreign film, Joyeux Noël from France, written and directed by Christian Carion, is based on a true Christmas eve truce that happened in WWI. From what we've heard, this flick could redeem the heartwarming movie genre.

travel… Flight to Amsterdam and four nights accommodation is $689 this month. It's an Air France package, the hotel is the Avenue Hotel (Trip Advisor reviews). Hash is extra.

art… The indispensable public art group Creative Time is sponsoring something new this month: Marilyn Minter Billboards — four gigundo billboards by Ms. Minter, an artist and photographer, that make a murky splash in the Chelsea art district.

performance… If the names Blair, Jo, Tootie, Natalie, and Mrs. Garrett get your neurons firing, you may want to catch a "viewer-discretion-advised" musical at Ars Nova called "The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode" this Friday, 8pm and March 9, 10pm. Tickets are $15.
