movies… Kiyoshi Kurosawa moves away from the horror genre with Tokyo Sonata, the story of a family and the father at its core who is fired from his corporate job. Touching and funny aren't adjectives that spring to mind with Kurosawa, but they apply here.

art… Opening Sunday at the Jewish Museum, Reclaimed: Paintings from the Collection of Jacques Goudstikker. Goudstikker's family has had 200 of the paintings returned by the Dutch government, out of the 1,400 Old Master and other works looted by Göring.
