tv… Calling for a moment of "shushy!", the appallingly inept psychic Shirley Ghostman spouts the most ridiculous extra-sensory, love-and-light nonsense to ever-polite Brits on High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman on BBCAmerica, (Saturdays, 9pm on Time Warner). 'Shirley,' (the alter ego of actor Marc Wootton), dispenses wildly inappropriate advice to pet owners, channels Lady Di (who seems to have forgotten how to speak the Queen's English), casts a reality show for psychics, and investigates a method of predicting the future using a bodily orifice not generally associated with clairvoyance. And that's just the first episode. This is an Ali G-type setup, in which the British public is gulled (or not) into believing that Shirley is who he (and it is a he) says he is. There are moments that are uncomfortable, vulgar, stupid, tasteless. It also made us laugh harder than any show in recent memory.

indie rock… Friday: Oh My Rockness' March Radness Party with four local faves (and free Sparks from 8-9pm). Saturday: Swedish band Love Is All bring their fun brand of post-punk to Warsaw. Just Announced: 4/19 The Fiery Furnaces at Bowery Ballroom, 5/24 The Walkmen at Webster Hall

movie… Inside Man is a heist flick from Spike Lee and it looks like it will be his biggest film in years. There's a strong cast, too: Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, and the great Christopher Plummer.

theater… Through April 9th, you can see Walk the Mountain, written and performed by Jude Narita. It's a play about Vietnamese and Cambodian woman and the lingering effects of the war in Vietnam (called "The American War" in that country). It's at 59E59 Theaters, 59 E. 59th [Park/Mad], tickets are $30, available at 212.279.4200 and here.

travel… We're especially drawn to city websites that give readers a small, concentrated dose of the city in question. Two that do it especially well are Paris Daily Photo and London Daily Photo, part of a loose association of daily photo sites (you'll find links on those sites to many other cities).

volunteer… The 2006 Great River Sweep takes place between April 22-30. Last year, 7,000 volunteers removed 93 tons of trash from communities along the Hudson. They need both volunteers and coordinators — learn more at
