out of town… Airfares to Europe this summer? Through the roof. Delays on the tarmac? Torture. That lovely country inn you were planning to revisit? Maybe in the fall. Or consider this: The Homestead Inn, a short car-ride to Greenwich, has 18 luxe rooms (it's a Relais & Chateaux) and a secret ingredient: Thomas Henkelmann, who trained with the Haeberlin brothers of Auberge de l'Ill as well as Eckart Witzigman. You will eat extraordinarily well.

Grace Periods
If you're renting a car over the holiday, remember to check the grace period for late returns. Hertz, for example, used to be 59 minutes. Now it's 30.
