moviesSurfwise is a surfing movie for people not into surfing movies. That's because it's really the true story of a family in the '60s, headed by Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, his nine children, their nomadic life, their love of surfing, nature, and healthy diet. The fact that they were Jewish only meant that Shabbat took place on the beach. Playing now thru Tuesday at the IFC.

cabaret… The great pipes of Capathia Jenkins (Caroline, or Change) will be put to good use as she and her partner, songwriter Louis Rosen, perform the works of Nikki Giovanni at Joe's Pub, on May 12, 18, 19, and 26.
