movie We haven't seen this one, but from what we hear, the painful-to-watch Australian documentary Dominion, about animal agriculture, might actually accelerate the current shift toward plant-based diets. The NYC premiere is July 5. The film's writer and director, Chris Delforce, will be on hand.

fri 5-10pm: dance to salsa, swing, bachata, bhangra and more with live music at bryant park's annual dance party series. tonight's latin festival season finale features live music performed by grammy-nominated new swing sextet and percussionist luisito quintero. bryant park's fountain terrace (midtown west), free.

fri 7:30pm: actors steve buscemi and john leguizamo plus producers amy lo and michelle cameron will do q+a following a screening of their new film, nancy, at the landmark at 57 west (midtown west). $18.50.

fri + sat: escape from new york at outdoor screenings of escape from new york on governors island (fri 7pm) and the wizard of oz at hunter's point south park in long island city (sat 7:30pm).

sat 11am-6pm: shop housewares, stationery, self-published books, apparel, accessories, and more created by 25 alumni at the annual school of visual arts makers market. artists + fleas (soho), free admission.

sat 6pm doors, 7pm show: the annual summerstage event series returns with more than 100 free and benefit shows in 18 parks across nyc. tonight: bowie symphonic: ensemble lpr and cellist maya beiser perform an orchestral version of david bowie's blackstar album. central park, free.

sat + sun 12-6pm: make your way through 45 artist's workspaces in 13 buildings during the annual self-guided west chelsea gallery district artists' open studios tour. free.
