photography Plato's Dogs is the work of Thomas Roma, a book of images shot over two years at a Brooklyn dog run, in which the dogs' shadows appear like cave paintings. The primal connection between man and dog is striking. The book will be published on November 8.

dance At BAM, November 10-12, Rules of the Game combines Pirandello, eight dancers, choreography by Jonah Bokaer, visuals by Daniel Arsham, a score by Pharrell Williams, arrangements and co-composition by David Campbell—a high concentration of serious talent.

food The Japan Fes Ramen Contest takes place on Sunday, 10-6 at the Japan Block Fair, Broadway [92/94], with ramen from local shops as well as 175 Deno and Menya Jiro from Japan. The Japan Fes follows on Monday, 4 W. 43rd [5th/6th] 11am-9pm, with more ramen, sake, and music.
