Up Next: Music Edition

We're craving music just now and its charms to soothe a savage breast.




Songs That Saved My Life is a "brand centered around music that played a pivotal role in the lives of artists and fans that benefits mental health and suicide prevention charities. Everyone has music that helped them through a tough time. Songs That Saved My Life looks to engage current artists with cover versions of those songs and share those stories with the world. Currently, this project benefits Crisis Text Line, Hope For The Day, The Trevor Project, and To Write Love On Her Arms." An album of artists performing songs that mean the most to them will be released November 9.






The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center presents The Art of the Quintet at Alice Tully Hall, including Mozart's salutary Quintet in E-flat major for Two Violins, Two Violas, and Cello, K. 614.

A 57-song compilation called Roots and Branches celebrates Appleseed Recordings 21st anniversary. Springsteen sings an affecting version of If I Had a Hammer.




Meanwhile, over at Birdland, Resonance Records marks its 10th anniversary, on October 28 and 29, with 17 jazz performers including the Eddie Daniels Quartet, Christian Howes, Claudio Roditi, and the Harlem Quartet.




Out today, Singing You Home, a bilingual album of children's songs for family reunification. A substantial portion of the proceeds will go to benefit RAICES and ASTEP.




Broadway performer Philip Chaffin's new album, produced by his husband Tommy Krasker, is titled Will He Like Me?, on which selections from the Great American Songbook, originally intended for women, get reinterpreted for the LGBTQ community. Out November 9.




Alison Crockett brings a warm Brazilian breeze to her new album Obrigada, out November 3.
