thru 10/11: inspired by edo bertoglio's film starring artist jean-michel basquiat, downtown 81, the metrograph's nyc '81 series features portraits of new york city from 1981's arthur, escape from new york, my dinner with andre, prince of the city, and others. the metrograph (les), $15.

thru 5/3/2020: the brooklyn museum presents the first major north american exhibition of works by french artist jr. jr: chronicles includes the artist's murals, photographs, videos, films, and dioramas from the past fifteen years, as well as the premier of a new mural, the chronicles of new york city, which features more than 1,000 people who were photographed and interviewed during summer 2018. the public is welcome to have their own photo booth portraits taken as well 10/5 5-9:30pm. brooklyn museum (prospect heights), suggested admission: $16 general, $10 students/seniors, free first saturdays 5-11pm (except jan and sept).

sat 10am-5pm: celebrate korean culture at the 39th annual korean parade and koreatown street festival.

sun 12-5pm: have a brine of a time at the annual lower east side pickle day, a three block festival filled with 50 vendors serving up all things pickled. orchard street between east houston + delancey streets (les), free admission.

sun 12:30-7pm: the 32nd annual deepavali festival takes over south street seaport with music, dance, food and vendors, and a fireworks display at 7pm. free admission.
